Risk management isn’t an accident. If we’re going to weather the storm, then we have to plan for unforeseen events. But you can’t insure everything, and rate increases seem to be hardening. What can manufacturers do to manage risk more effectively? Van will discuss: what manufacturers can do about the increase in traditional insurance premiums, how to prevent gaps in risk management strategies, and the risk management tools available to manufacturers.

Brad Terry is the Managing Partner at Links Consulting, an M Financial Group member firm. Brad began his career in the small manufacturing space of his uncle’s plantation shutter company, helping lay the foundation to what would become the largest manufacturer in the country. The untimely death of his uncle lead Brad to a career change that took him into the risk management industry with an emphasis on the tax side of insurance transactions. Brad’s team first approach led to the building of an enterprise with nine offices around the country, focusing on assisting small to medium sized businesses with sophisticated designs of captive insurance companies and multi-employer benefits strategies. Brad sold to his partners to return to his roots when he acquired the small manufacturing company Powerblanket, located in Salt Lake City. Under Brad’s leadership, Powerblanket’s manufacturing process became the fastest electrical company, within the Intertek platform, to obtain coveted ability to “mark” for C1D2. Brad credits Dr. Charles Harrell’s tutelage of manufacturing processes that not only lead to the Intertek success but also being named Manufacturer of the Year in Utah and the AME Excellence Award. Brad returned to the risk and financial services industry in a very familiar position of focusing on unique financial strategies for the small to medium sized businesses. With lessons learned from PPP and ERC, Brad believes that 831(b) Captives provide solutions for the companies he works with in building a sustainable economic future that maximizes operational cash-flow and risk management.
