Modern technology has allowed the development of state-of-the art coil storage designs where blocks can be made of highly engineered polymers with dimensions and strength that can hold securely in place multiple rows of master coils of the highest mass without the need for chains. It has also led to the development of racks to store slit coils that can be placed near machinery for easy access for processing. Special designs of these systems are also now available that add safety to over-the-road applications. This paper will discuss the history of coil storage through the client-driven systems in use today.
