Biography
Emmitt Smith is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, a three-time Super Bowl champion, and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010. Drafted in the first round in 1990, he was the heart of the Dallas Cowboys’ offense for 12 seasons, earning eight Pro Bowl selections and becoming the first player in league history to rush for over 1,000 yards in 11 consecutive seasons. In 2002, he broke Walter Payton’s record to become the league’s all-time rushing leader with 18,355 yards. Smith led the NFL in rushing four times, won league MVP honors in 1993, and was MVP of Super Bowl XXVIII. After finishing his career with the Arizona Cardinals (2003–2004), he retired as a Cowboy and was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor in 2005. He entered the College Football Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010. Off the field, Smith has served as an NFL and college football analyst for NFL Network, ESPN, and FOX. He won ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2006 and returned for the All-Stars season in 2012. He was also featured on NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are?
